The Expanded Breastfeeding Promotion Act of 2009 declares August of each year as Breastfeeding Awareness Month. Furthermore, the act adopts rooming-in, the practice of keeping a newborn with the mother after birth, as a national policy to encourage the practice of breastfeeding.
